Loddington Eco Committee
The members of our Eco Committee are amazing examples of courageous advocates. They are seeking to make a positive impact on the environment around our school and meet fortnightly to discuss their thoughts and projects.
As a team, the children think of ways in which we can all care for the environment and the world around us. In conjunction with the rest of the school and the wider community, it’s the pupils that decide the environmental themes they want to address and how they are going to do it. The work of the Eco Committee enhances our curriculum and gets the whole school united behind something important.
We asked them a few questions to find out why they are so passionate about making positive changes to our school community and getting involved in the local area.

A summary of 2025-2026
This year, the Eco Committee has worked hard on preparing and submitting our application for Eco-Schools Green Flag status. Focusing on the themes of energy, waste and healthy living, the committee has led a range of initiatives to encourage environmental awareness and positive lifestyle choices across the school.
To help reduce energy consumption, the Eco Committee appointed Energy Monitors in each class and took part in the national Cut Your Carbon campaign, encouraging everyone to think carefully about their energy use both at school and at home.
As part of our Waste action plan, the committee carried out an audit of the school's recycling provision and ensured that all recycling and waste bins were clearly labelled to help pupils dispose of rubbish correctly. They also organised a battery recycling scheme, making it easy for families and staff to recycle used batteries responsibly.
The Eco Committee has continued to promote a cleaner environment by carrying out litter picks around Loddington and the school grounds using new equipment recently purchased by the school. These activities have helped pupils take pride in their surroundings and understand the importance of reducing litter.
Healthy Living has also been a key focus this year. With support from the School Council, Wellbeing Wednesday afternoons have provided opportunities for pupils to take part in activities that promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Pupils also enthusiastically participated in Walk to School Week, helping to encourage active travel and healthier lifestyles while reducing the environmental impact of journeys to school.
The Eco Committee is proud of all that has been achieved this year and looks forward to continuing its work to make our school an even greener and healthier place for everyone.
